Smart Arm

Our customer needed an Articulating Jib Arm with the ability to tie into their conveyor PLC. The unit manipulates crank shafts or “cranks” by picking them from the horizontal position at a table, rotating them 90 degrees to vertical then setting them into a heat treat basket. One more catch, the cranks need to be placed at different elevations causing a challenge for the operator. The solution is our Smart Arm. We have given the arm the ability to talk with the conveyor PLC and to assist the operators in quickly rotating and identifying which height to load the cranks into the heat treat basket.
